Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Channa daal
  • 1 cup - water
  • 4 - Cardamom pods
  • 5 - dry Red Chillies
  • 2 - Bay Leaves
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1- piece of Ginger
  • 2 - Green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • Pinch of Asafoetida
  • 2 tbsp - oil/ghee
  • 1/2 cup - Wheat flour
  • 2 cups - water
  • How to Make Daal Poodi:

    1. Pressure cook channa daal to 4 whistles with water, turmeric, salt, cardamom pods, black pepper and bay leaves.
    2. When steam subsides, open and remove the bay leaves
    3. Heat 2 tbsp of ghee/oil. Add cumin seeds.
    4. Fry ginger and green chillies.
    5. Add channa daal and cook till the water gets absorbed and mash.
    6. In a separate bowl, make a dough of wheat floor and water
    7. Shape them into balls and make a small depression and fill the mixture, close and roll it into small size pooris.
    8. Deep fry till golden brown.
    9. Serve warm
