Ingredients

  • 1/4 kilo - tender okra
  • Oil to fry
  • 1 cup - yogurt
  • 1/2 cup - butter milk
  • 5 - green chillies
  • Seasoning Agents:
  • 2 pinches - asafoetida
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Dahi Bhendi

  • Cut the okra into 3-4 mm thick slices. Chop the green chillies
  • Beat the yogurt and butter milk, add salt to taste, along with chopped chillies.
  • Heat 30 ml of oil in a kadai and add seasoning to it.
  • When mustard seeds splutter, add okra and fry till they turn red
  • Mix the turmeric and chilli powder into the fried okra
  • Cool this for 5-7 mins
  • Soak the okra in the beaten yogurt mixture for 15 mins
  • Serve with chapattis.
