Ingredients

  • Hilsa or rohu fish - 500 g
  • Curds - 1/2 cup
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Onion - 1 big
  • Ginger - 3 cm
  • Mustard oil - 4 tbsp
  • Cloves - 2
  • Cinnamon - 2
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Bay Leaf - 1
  • Green chillies - 4, slit
  • Coriander leaves to garnish- 1 small bunch
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Dahi Mach (Fish with Curds):

    1. Cut the cleaned fish into slices
    2. Apply some turmeric powder and salt to the fish and wash again
    3. Mix the curd with salt, chilli and turmeric powder
    4. Pour over the fish and marinate for 1 hour
    5. Grind the onion and ginger together
    6. Heat oil in a kadai and saute the cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and the bay leaves until light brown
    7. Add onion and ginger paste to it and fry well
    8. Now add the marinated fish
    9. Cover and simmer till the fish is cooked
    10. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
