Ingredients

  • Hilsa or rohu fish - 500 g
  • Curds - 1/2 cup
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Onion - 1 big
  • Ginger - 3 cm
  • Mustard oil - 4 tbsp
  • Cloves - 2
  • Cinnamon - 2
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Green chillies - 4, slit
  • Coriander leaves to garnish- 1 small bunch
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Dahi Mach (Fish with Curds)

  • Cut the cleaned fish into slices
  • Apply some turmeric powder and salt to the fish and wash again
  • Mix the curd with salt, chilli and turmeric powder
  • Pour over the fish and marinate for 1 hour
  • Grind the onion and ginger together
  • Heat oil in a kadai and saute the cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and the bay leaves until light brown
  • Add onion and ginger paste to it and fry well
  • Now add the marinated fish
  • Cover and simmer till the fish is cooked
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
