How to Make Dal-batata vada

  • Soak the channa dal for 5-6 hours and grind it coarsely.
  • Also grind chillies, garlic and ginger coarsely
  • Heat oil and splutter mustard to it
  • When it starts to splutter, add a pinch of asafoetida, turmeric and the chilli-garlic masala and fry it for a little while
  • Add onion and fry it for a couple of minutes
  • Add chopped fenugreek leaves and fry it for 2 minutes
  • Add chopped potatoes, salt, sugar and lemon juice and mix it well and keep it aside
  • Mix ground channa dal with batata bhaji
  • Make some balls, coat them with bread crumbs and fry it in oil until it is golden in colour
