Ingredients

  • For the kofta:
  • 1 cup - mixture of soaked urad dal, yellow moong dal, channa dal, toor dal
  • 1 small cup - mixture of coriander leaves, spring onions, mint leaves
  • 1 tsp - hot oil
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil for frying
  • For the gravy:
  • 1 - onion
  • 2 - tomatoes
  • 1 tsp - ginger - garlic paste
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 tbsp - paste of kofta
  • 1 tbsp - cream
  • 1/2 tbsp - red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp - roasted fennel, coriander, cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • Oil for cooking

How to Make Dal Kofta

  • Make a thick paste of the soaked dals, salt, coriander-mint mixture and 1 tsp of hot oil.
  • Mix everything well (reserve 1 tbsp) and make small balls.
  • Deep fry in hot oil. Drain and keep aside.
  • Take another pan, heat 2 to 3 tbsps of oil.
  • Add the onion paste and fry it till it turns brown.
  • Add ginger - garlic paste and mix well.
  • When the mixture turns brown, add crushed tomatoes.
  • Add all the spices and salt.
  • When it boils, add the reserved kofta paste and cream, and let it simmer.
  • Finally, add 2 cups of water and the fried koftas.
  • Cook for 2 mins and serve hot.
