  • 2 cup - channa dal
  • 1/2 cup - urad dal
  • 1/2 tsp - fennel
  • A handful - finely chopped coconut
  • 10 - green chillies
  • Coriander leaves, finely cut
  • Salt

How to Make Dal vada mangalore style

  • Soak chana dal and urad dal separately for 1/2 an hour
  • Set aside a fistful of soaked urad dal and 2 tsp of channa dal
  • Ground together coarsely the dals without adding water
  • Add finely cut green chillies, fennel and coriander leaves and salt
  • Add the lentils which were kept aside
  • Take a lemon-sized dough, flatten with wet hands
  • and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown
