Ingredients

  • 1 cup - broken Wheat
  • 1/2 cup - Split Pigeon Pea
  • 2-3 - green chillies, chopped
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 1 - carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 - green capsicum, finely chopped
  • 1 cup - Green peas
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 pinch - asafetida
  • 4-5 - Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp - Tamarind pulp
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 tbsp - clarified Butter , 1 tbsp - more
  • 4 cup - water or as required
  • How to Make Dalia Bhaat (Broken Wheat Risotto ):

    1. In a pressure cooker splutter mustard seeds and add asafoetida.
    2. Add curry leaves and saute onion for a minute.
    3. To this add vegetables and saute till done.
    4. Blend broken wheat and split pigeon pea to this and add four cups of water and bring it to boil.
    5. Now add turmeric powder, tamarind pulp and salt.
    6. Cover and cook till it whistles 4 times.
    7. Open when all the steam evaporates by itself.
    8. Drizzle with a tbsp of clarified butter .
    9. Serve hot.
