Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Toor Dal
  • 1 - small Onion
  • 1 - Green chilli
  • 2 - kokum or 1/2 tsp Tamarind pulp
  • Handful - Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard
  • 1/2 tsp - Asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric
  • 1 tsp - goda masala or vegetable masala
  • A few - Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - Jaggery
  • 1.5 cups - water
  • How to Make Dalichi Amti:

    1. Pressure cook dal with mustard, asafoetida, turmeric, green chilli, curry leaves and onion
    2. When the dal is cooked, add it to a saucepan and boil, adding water
    3. Add salt, masala, coriander leaves, jaggery and kokam/tamarind. Boil
    4. Serve hot with rice
