Ingredients

  • 1 cup - toor dal
  • 1 - small onion
  • 1 - green chilli
  • 2 - kokum or 1/2 tsp tamarind pulp
  • Handful - coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard
  • 1/2 tsp - asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric
  • 1 tsp - goda masala or vegetable masala
  • A few - curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - jaggery
  • 1.5 cups - water

How to Make Dalichi Amti

  • Pressure cook dal with mustard, asafoetida, turmeric, green chilli, curry leaves and onion
  • When the dal is cooked, add it to a saucepan and boil, adding water
  • Add salt, masala, coriander leaves, jaggery and kokam/tamarind. Boil
  • Serve hot with rice
