Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Toor Dal
  • 1 big size - Tomato
  • 3 tbsp or according to taste - Tamarind pulp
  • 3 tbsp - Coriander leaves
  • 1 stalk Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp - Haldi /turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli/mirchi powder
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard and Cumin seeds mixed
  • 1 tsp - Urad Dal
  • Oil for seasoning
  • 2-3 garlic, crushed
  • How to Make Dalsa:

    1. Boil the dal with chopped tomato in a pressure cooker.
    2. When soft, mash well and add 1.5 cups water, salt, haldi, mirchi powder, coriander leaves and some chopped curry leaves.
    3. When the dal is boiling, add tamarind pulp, mix well and boil for five more minutes on medium flame.
    4. Remove and keep aside.
    5. Season the dal with mustard and cumin seeds, urad dal, garlic and curry leaves.
    6. Serve hot with rice, pickle and papad.
