Ingredients

  • 250 gm - black dates, deseeded and finely chopped
  • 50 gm - cashewnuts, finely chopped
  • 50 gm - desiccated Coconut
  • 1 tbsp - Ghee or butter.
  • How to Make Date & Coconut roll:

    1. Heat the ghee in a karahi (also kadai, korai, karai, kadhi, kadahi, kadhai or cheena chatti). Add the dates and stir over a medium flame. Keep pressing the dates with a heavy ladle.
    2. Once the dates are mixed well (this should take just a few minutes), add the cashew nuts and continue stirring.
    3. Take the mixture off the fire after a few minutes and when cool enough to handle, shape into sausage like rolls.
    4. Sprinkle dessicated coconut on the roll, slice and serve.
    5. If you use ordinary dates, add 1 tbsp condensed milk to the dates.
