Saute onion in remaining butter until soft and add dates, apricots, almonds and raisins
Pour 1/2 of the butter, water into casserole, then add in layers 1/3 of the rice, 1/2 of the fruit mixture, 1/2 of the lentils, 1/3 of the rice, remaining fruit mixture, remaining lentils and remaining rice and finally pour the remaining butter water.
Cover with cloth, then with lid and simmer over low heat for 30-40 mins
