  • 100 g - flour
  • 125 g - Butter or margarine
  • 25 g - semolina
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1/ 2 cup - rum
  • 100 g - Dates
  • 10 - Walnuts
  • 125 g - Sugar
  • 1/4 cup - Milk
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 1 tsp -vanilla essence
  • How to Make Date and Walnut Cake:

    1. Cut each date into 3-4 pieces and soak the dates in the rum for a couple of hours or a few days.
    2. Break the walnuts into small pieces.
    3. Beat the butter. Add sugar and beat till nice and smooth. Add egg yolks and continue beating.
    4. Put the dates and walnuts in the flour and mix. Mix in the flour slowly in the butter mixture and keep stiring. Continue stiring while adding the semolina
    5. Slowly fold the stifly beaten egg whites into the mixture
    6. Mix gently with hands to avoid forming lumps
    7. Add the vanilla essence, milk
    8. The mixture should flow when the mixing bowl is tilted
    9. Rub the cake moulds with some butter and dust with flour. Pour the mixture into cake moulds.
    10. Preheat oven to 375 deg Fahrenheit.
    11. Ten minutes after keeping the cake in the oven lower the temperature to 300-325
    12. Bake for 40-50 min
