How to Make Date and Walnut Cake

  • Cut each date into 3-4 pieces and soak the dates in the rum for a couple of hours or a few days.
  • Break the walnuts into small pieces.
  • Beat the butter. Add sugar and beat till nice and smooth. Add egg yolks and continue beating.
  • Put the dates and walnuts in the flour and mix. Mix in the flour slowly in the butter mixture and keep stiring. Continue stiring while adding the semolina
  • Slowly fold the stifly beaten egg whites into the mixture
  • Mix gently with hands to avoid forming lumps
  • Add the vanilla essence, milk
  • The mixture should flow when the mixing bowl is tilted
  • Rub the cake moulds with some butter and dust with flour. Pour the mixture into cake moulds.
  • Preheat oven to 375 deg Fahrenheit.
  • Ten minutes after keeping the cake in the oven lower the temperature to 300-325
  • Bake for 40-50 min
