Ingredients

  • Dates - 200 gm, chopped
  • white dry bread crumbs - 100 gm
  • Sugar - 50 gm
  • grated Orange rind - 1 tsp
  • Orange juice - 4 tbsp
  • plain flour (maida) - 75 gm
  • Brown sugar - 75 gm
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • margarine - 150 gm

How to Make Date Crumble Bars

  • Combine dates with sugar, orange rind and juice.
  • Cook stirring on low heat till dates are soft and the mixture is thick. Cool.
  • Mix together, flour, brown sugar, salt and bread crumbs.
  • Add margarine in small lumps.
  • Mix gently with finger tips till a crumbly mixture is formed.
  • Grease a 18 cm baking tin.
  • Sprinkle ½ the crumble mixture in it and Spread the date mixture over it.
  • Sprinkle remaining crumble mixture on top.
  • Bake in a mode oven (180 degrees centigrade) for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool in the tin. Cut into bars.
