Ingredients

  • 500 g - soft, dried Dates (khajoor)
  • 200 g - soft, dried Figs
  • 1 tin - condensed Milk
  • 100 g - almonds, halved
  • 100 g - cashews, halved
  • 50 g - green pistachios, halved
  • 10 g - Cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp - Ghee
  • Edible silver foil (optional)
  • How to Make Dates-Dry fruit Burfi:

    1. Break or chop dates and figs coarsely.
    2. In a heavy-bottomed cooking pan, add condensed milk and cook on medium low flame.
    3. Stir continuously till the mixture becomes thick.
    4. Add dry fruits, and cardamom and mix well.
    5. Remove from the stove, stir for a minute.
    6. Grease a shallow tray and transfer the mixture to it. Pat it flat to get a thickness of about 2-cm.
    7. Cool till slightly warm.
    8. Apply ghee over it.
    9. Apply silver foil gently, pressing down with a wad of cotton wool or soft cloth.
    10. Mark sections neatly, cutting 1-inchx1-inch pieces.
    11. Allow to cool to room temperature.
    12. Pack into layers, interspersed with greaseproof paper.
