Ingredients

  • 500 g - soft, dried dates (khajoor)
  • 200 g - soft, dried figs
  • 1 tin - condensed milk
  • 100 g - almonds, halved
  • 100 g - cashews, halved
  • 50 g - green pistachios, halved
  • 10 g - cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp - ghee
  • Edible silver foil (optional)

How to Make Dates-Dry fruit Burfi

  • Break or chop dates and figs coarsely.
  • In a heavy-bottomed cooking pan, add condensed milk and cook on medium low flame.
  • Stir continuously till the mixture becomes thick.
  • Add dry fruits, and cardamom and mix well.
  • Remove from the stove, stir for a minute.
  • Grease a shallow tray and transfer the mixture to it. Pat it flat to get a thickness of about 2-cm.
  • Cool till slightly warm.
  • Apply ghee over it.
  • Apply silver foil gently, pressing down with a wad of cotton wool or soft cloth.
  • Mark sections neatly, cutting 1-inchx1-inch pieces.
  • Allow to cool to room temperature.
  • Pack into layers, interspersed with greaseproof paper.
