  • 1 cup tur dal or masoor dhal
  • 1/2 tsp mustard
  • 3 big tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tsp crushed Garlic
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 2 Red Chillies broken into bits
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Few Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Dhal And Tomato Curry:

    1. Wash dal and cook along with the tomatoes, turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and 3 cups of water in a pressure cooker.
    2. When the dal is cooked, mash well, add the salt and a little more water if required.
    3. In another vessel, heat oil and add the smashed garlic, mustard, red chillies and curry leaves.
    4. When the mustard splutters pour in the cooked dal and mix well.
    5. Serve with rice.
