Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1.5 tsp rasam powder
  • 3 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1.5 tsp cooked toor dal
  • A small-lime size ball tamarind
  • A few coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water

How to Make Dhal (Parupu) Rasam or Tomato (Thakali) Rasam

  • Take the tamarind and then soak it in hot water.
  • Then, squeeze the tamarind completely in the water.
  • Boil the tamarind water after adding a little bit of turmeric and salt to it.
  • Take one tomato and crush it completely and add it to the tamarind water.
  • Add the rasam powder and the cooked toor dhal.
  • Cut one tomato as finely as you possibly can and add it to the rasam.
  • Take another pan, heat it after adding the ghee.
  • Then, add mustard to it.
  • When the mustard begins to splutter, add it to the rasam.
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves and your rasam is ready.
  • Serve it hot for lunch or dinner along with rice.
