Ingredients

  • For batter:
  • 1 cup - sooji/rava/semolina
  • 1 cup - yogurt
  • 1/4 cup - water
  • salt
  • a pinch - Hing
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - green chilli, chopped
  • 2 tbsp - Coriander leaves (cilantro), chopped
  • 1 tbsp - coconut, grated
  • 2 tsp - Lemon juice
  • To season in 1 tbsp oil:
  • 1 tsp - Jeera (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • Other ingredients:
  • 1 tsp - eno fruit salt

How to Make Dhokla

  • Mix all the ingredients for the batter and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and jeera and allow it to crackle.
  • Pour this into the batter.
  • Add eno fruit salt. Mix the batter well.
  • Steam on high flame in greased idli plates for 12 minutes.
