Ingredients

  • Dondakayya - 1 kg
  • Salt - to taste
  • Red chilli powder - 3 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 fistful
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Onions - 2 (medium size)

How to Make Dondakaya Fry

  • Cut dondakaya into round slices of 2-3 mm thickness. Boil in pressure cooker for 15 minutes, without water.
  • Heat oil in a kadai.
  • Add curry leaves, cumin seeds and mustard seeds.
  • Fry chopped onions in it till they turn brown in colour.
  • Add dondakaya and fry in it for 10-20 mins and add some turmeric powder, chilli powder and fry till the masalas are cooked.
  • Remove from flame and serve hot with roti or rice.
