Ingredients

  • 3 cups - fresh Drumstick leaves, cleaned and washed
  • 1/2 cup - yellow moong dal
  • 1 cup - fresh coconut, grated
  • 8-10 - baby Onions
  • 1 - large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 2-3 - dry red chillies, broken
  • 1 stalk - Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • How to Make Drumstick Leaf Errisery:

    1. Grind 3/4 cup of coconut, baby onions, cumin, chilli powder and turmeric together and keep aside.
    2. Cook the dal in 2 cups of water until almost done.
    3. Add the washed drumstick leaves and 1 cup of hot water.
    4. Add salt. Cover and simmer for 3-4 minutes. Keep aside.
    5. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Let the seeds splutter.
    6. Add onions, coconut and chillies and saute until light brown.
    7. Add coconut paste and saute until the oil separates.
    8. Add to the dal and mix. Bring to boil.
    9. Serve hot with roti or rice.
