  • 2 - tender Drumsticks
  • 1/2 kg - yellow cooking Cucumber
  • 2 cups - grated Coconut
  • 8 to 10 - dry Red Chillies
  • 8 - Cloves
  • 2 pods - garlic, peeled and crushed lightly
  • 1 - small piece of Tamarind
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • How to Make Drumsticks and Cucumber Koddel:

    1. Cut the drumsticks into 5-cm long pieces.
    2. Cut the cucumber lengthwise (do not peel the skin). Discard the seeds and the core. Cut the remaining cucumber into 4-cm cubes.
    3. Combine both the vegetables. Add enough water to cover and cook.
    4. Meanwhile, roast the red chillies in 2 tsp of oil.
    5. Grind the coconut and tamarind to a smooth paste.
    6. Add salt and the paste to the cooked vegetables. Add water to get a gravy of medium pouring consistency and simmer for 3-4 minutes.
    7. Heat the remaining oil and saute the garlic until brown. Add to the koddel.
    8. Serve with steamed rice.
