Ingredients

  • 100g - boiled Drumstick pieces with salt (2 sticks approx)
  • 1.5 tsp - oil/ghee
  • 500ml - Tamarind water (made with 2 tsp Tamarind paste)
  • 1 small onion, chopped fine
  • 1 tsp - any rasam powder
  • 2 red chilli, (broken into bits)
  • 1 to 2 Cloves Garlic, peeled and crushed Garlic
  • 1 sprig - Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - chopped, coriander
  • 1/4 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • Cumin, a pinch
  • Asafetida a pinch
  • Turmeric powder, a pinch
  • 1 tsp - jaggery, powdered
  • How to Make Drumsticks in tangy tamarind rasam:

    1. Heat oil/ghee, add mustard seeds, asafoetida, garlic, red chilli, cumin and curry leaves.
    2. Fry till the mustard splutters.
    3. Add chopped onion and turmeric powder and fry till they become soft.
    4. Add boiled drumsticks and tamarind water, salt, rasam powder and jaggery and let it boil for 2 mins.
    5. Sprinkle chopped coriander and remove from fire.
    6. Serve with hot plain rice along with papads.
