Ingredients

  • 2 cups - white chick peas (chole), boiled and drained
  • 1 - onion, medium sized, chopped
  • 3-4 - green chillies, chopped
  • 2 stalks - curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp - urad dal
  • 2 - dry red chillies (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • a few coriander leaves, chopped
  • 2 tbsp - oil

How to Make Dry Chole

  • Heat oil in a kadhai and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and urad dal.
  • When they splutter, add dry red chillies, green chillies and curry leaves. Stir for 15 seconds.
  • Add turmeric powder and onions and saute until the onions are translucent.
  • Add the boiled chole and stir well.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes on medium flame, stirring every 2 minutes.
  • Add salt and mix well and cook for 2 more minutes.
  • Remove and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with puris or rotis.
