  • 100g - dried shrimps
  • 4 - dry red chillies
  • 1" piece - turmeric
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • a little tamarind
  • salt to taste
  • 1 - fresh coconut, scraped
  • 3 tbsp - cooking oil
  • 1 - medium-sized onion, sliced

How to Make Dry Shrimp (Galmbi) Chutney

  • Broil the shrimps on a tava, stirring all the while.
  • Put the shrimps on a board or flat plate and press with a piece of cloth.
  • Remove the cloth and clean all the burnt parts.
  • Grind the chillies, turmeric, cumin seeds, and tamarind into a paste.
  • Add the shrimps and mix well.
  • Add the scraped coconut and mix.
  • Slightly grind the mixture in a mixer until the ingredients blend.
  • Heat oil in a flat pan.
  • Fry the sliced onion and add to the chutney.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring continuously.
  • Add salt
