  • Rice - 3 cups
  • Coconut Milk - 1 can (Or Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup)
  • Baking soda - 1 tsp
  • Cream of Rice - 1/2 cup
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Oil to shallow fry
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Easy Aapam:

    1. Wash and soak the rice grains for 5-6 hours.
    2. Grind the rice to a fine paste using coconut milk.
    3. Let this batter be of dosa consistency. Keep it aside.
    4. Heat 1.5 cups of water in a pan. Bring it to boil.
    5. In a cup, mix the cream of rice with remaining 1/2 cup of water and add this to the boiling water.
    6. Keep stirring for 4-5 minutes and make sure there are no lumps.
    7. Remove from fire and allow it to cool.
    8. Add this paste to the aapam batter.
    9. Add salt and mix well.
    10. Leave it aside for 8-10 hours (or overnight).
    11. When ready to make aapam, add baking soda and mix well.
    12. Pour a spoonful of batter on a hot tawa.
    13. Pour 1 tsp of oil and close it with a lid.
    14. Remove when done.
    15. You need not cook on the other side.
    16. Serve hot with coconut chutney or kurma.
