Ingredients

  • 2 cups - water
  • 1/2 kg - mutton
  • 1 - coconut
  • 1/2 cup - ghee
  • 2 - onions
  • 1/2 kg - rice
  • 2 tbsp - sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp - Lime juice
  • To grind:
  • 6 - chillies
  • 1 tbsp - coriander
  • 1 - turmeric
  • 1.5 tbsp - cumin seeds
  • 4 flakes - garlic
  • 1 inch - ginger
  • 1 tbsp - poppy seeds
  • 6 - pepper
  • 4 pods - cardamoms

How to Make Easy Biryani Mutton

  • Cut the meat into 1-inch pieces and wash.
  • Grind all the listed masalas.
  • Grind coconut and extract two cups of coconut milk.
  • Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan and fry one sliced onion.
  • When it turns brown, add ground masala, meat and hot water, to about 1 inch above the contents. Add salt to taste.
  • Boil till meat is well cooked.
  • Squeeze lime juice to taste. When done, keep aside.
  • Clean and wash the rice, and drain the water.
  • In another vessel large enough for the rice, pour some ghee and heat it.
  • Fry another sliced onion.
  • Fry the rice in this same vessel, till the rice turns brown.
  • Now pour the coconut milk into the rice, so that it remains 1 inch above the rice.
  • As usual, add some hot water, if the level is not reached.
  • Add, sugar, salt and lime juice to taste.
  • When the rice is half cooked, add the meat with the masala and gravy, and stir.
  • When it is blended, remove and put in the microwave oven to cook till done.
