How to Make Easy Bisi Bele Bath

  • Pressure cook rice and dal together with water till they turn soft.
  • Roast the ingredients as listed except coconut, till it turns golden brown and then add coconut and saute for one minute and grind it to a fine powder.
  • Soak tamarind in warm water and extract 2 cups of tamarind water and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and saute the hopped vegetables and garlic for 5 minutes.
  • Add salt, turmeric powder and tamarind extract.
  • Let the mixture boil for 10 minutes till the vegetables are cooked and raw smell of tamarind goes off.
  • Add the ground masala powder, cooked rice and dal and salt if necessary.
  • Mix well and turn off the heat.
  • For the seasoning, heat ghee in a pan and add mustard seeds, jeera, asafoetida, curry leaves, cashew nuts and raisins and let it splutter and slight roasted.
  • Pour the seasoning on the vegetable mixture.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
