How to Make Easy Prawn ( Bengali Style )

  • Heat a little mustard oil in a kadai to smoking point.
  • Bring down the flame to medium heat.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of kalonji. Wait until you get the strong smell of fried kalonji.
  • Add the cubed potatoes, along with turmeric and salt.
  • Keep stirring potato cubes for a while till they start turning brown.
  • Add the shrimps.
  • Add a little more salt and sugar to taste and keep stirring.
  • When the shrimps take on a reddish tint, add the diced tomatoes and close the lid after mixing well.
  • You can also add some green peas at this point, as they will add to the volume, colour and flavour of the curry.
  • After 4-5 minutes, you can check the gravy in the kadai.
  • Do not add any water if you want your curry to be dry.
  • Sprinkle more salt according to taste and when the gravy is boiling at high heat, add the chopped green chillies.
  • Your curry is done when the gravy is as thick as you want it to be.
