Ingredients

  • 200 gm - coriander seeds
  • 100 gm - whole dry red chillies
  • 25 gm - black peppercorns
  • 25 gm - cumin seeds
  • 25 gm - channa dal
  • 25 gm - urad dal
  • 25 gm - rice
  • 10 gm - fenugreek seeds
  • 10 gm - turmeric
  • 25 gm - salt
  • 5 gm - asafoetida
  • 3 stalks curry leaves
  • 5 cloves
  • 2 tsp - ghee for roasting

How to Make Easy Sambar Masala

  • Mix all the ingredients together.
  • Heat ghee, add the ingredients and roast over low flame till crisp and golden. It should give off a strong, spicy aroma. Cool.
  • Pound to a coarse powder, either using a mortar and pestle or dry grind in a mixie.
  • Use as required.
