Ingredients

  • 200 gm - Coriander seeds
  • 100 gm - whole dry Red Chillies
  • 25 gm - Black Peppercorns
  • 25 gm - Cumin seeds
  • 25 gm - Channa dal
  • 25 gm - Urad Dal
  • 25 gm - Rice
  • 10 gm - Fenugreek seeds
  • 10 gm - Turmeric
  • 25 gm - salt
  • 5 gm - Asafoetida
  • 3 stalks Curry leaves
  • 5 Cloves
  • 2 tsp - Ghee for roasting
  • How to Make Easy Sambar Masala:

    1. Mix all the ingredients together.
    2. Heat ghee, add the ingredients and roast over low flame till crisp and golden. It should give off a strong, spicy aroma. Cool.
    3. Pound to a coarse powder, either using a mortar and pestle or dry grind in a mixie.
    4. Use as required.
