  • 4 cups - Rice flour
  • 1 cup - Urad Dal flour (fry the Urad Dal directly in a pan till it gets a nice brown color and then powder it finely)
  • 2 tbsp - Butter
  • 1/4 tsp - asafetida powder
  • 2 tbsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp - sesame seeds (optional)
  • 1/2 cup - Coconut Milk (optional)
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • How to Make Easy Thenkuzhal:

    1. Mix together the rice flour and the urad dal flour without adding water.
    2. Now add the remaining ingredients to the flour and make dough by adding enough water.
    3. Make a ball from the dough and put it in the thenkuzhal press (with the three holed plate in the press).
    4. Squeeze the dough into the boiling oil through the press.
    5. Fry it in the oil till it turns crispy.
    6. Drain and store in an airtight container.
