  • Toor dal - 1 cup
  • Onions - 2, chopped finely
  • Tomatoes - 2, chopped finely
  • Garlic cloves - 5, chopped finely
  • Ginger - 1inch piece, chopped finely
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Ghee - 1-2 tbsp for seasoning
  • Eggs - 3
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

How to Make Egg Dal

  • Pressure cook dal in half cup water
  • Heat ghee. Add the finely chopped onions and fry till light brown
  • Then put in the chopped garlic and ginger. Fry till soft.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes and fry till the tomatoes turn mushy.
  • Put in the turmeric, garam masala and chilli powder. Fry for about 5 mins
  • Now put in the cooked dal, mix well and add salt to taste
  • When almost done, break the eggs and pour directly into the dal. Keep stirring. Remove immediately from heat.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with white rice or roti.
