Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup - powdered Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp - salt
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 2 cups - flour
  • 1.5 tsp - ground Cardamom
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup - sour Cream
  • 1/2 cup - buttermilk
  • A pinch of icing Sugar for dusting
  • How to Make Elaichi cake:

    1. Beat the unsalted butter with the powdered sugar and 1/4 tsp - salt.
    2. Add the egg and beat well.
    3. Sift 2 cups flour together with ground cardamom and baking soda.
    4. Add the flour to the butter mixture alternately with the sour cream.
    5. Add enough buttermilk (about half cup) to make a soft dropping consistency.
    6. Bake in two greased and floured 6-inch ring moulds for about 20-25 mins at 180 deg C.
    7. Turn out onto a wire rack.
    8. Serve with a dusting of icing sugar.
