  • 500 g - potatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 124 g - sardines
  • 1 tbsp - parsley
  • 1/2 tsp - herb salt
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 2 tbsp - butter
  • Seasoned flour
  • 1 cup - crisp bread crumbs
  • 1 - egg, beaten with 1 tbsp milk

How to Make Fish Cakes with potatoes

  • Boil 500 ml water in a covered pan with 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper
  • Peel the potatoes and slice them very thinly
  • Put them to boil in the covered pan
  • Meanwhile open the tins and drain the sardines
  • Chop the parsley
  • Put the potatoes and fish through a sieve
  • Stir in the parsley and herb salt
  • Dip your hands into the seasoned flour, take up a handful of the potato-fish mixture, roll and flatten it into a patty shape
  • Pass through the egg mixture and then the bread crumbs
  • Fry on both sides until golden brown
  • Grilled tomatoes, peas, pureed carrots or swedes would go well with these fish cakes as would tomato sauce
