Ingredients

  • 500 g - silver carp (or any white-fleshed fish)
  • 3 - medium-sized raw banana, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 - large onion, ground into a paste
  • 1 tbsp - ginger paste
  • 2 - dry red chillies
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp - tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • Salt, as required
  • Oil, as required
  • Water, as required

How to Make Fish curry with raw banana

  • Wash the fish and cut into 2 inch pieces. Marinate with a pinch of turmeric and salt for 5 to 7 minutes.
  • In a pan, heat oil and gently fry the fish pieces.
  • Remove the fish pieces and in the same pan, add the bay leaf, dry chillies and the garlic paste.
  • Fry for a few seconds and then add onion paste, turmeric powder and tomato ketchup.
  • Fry for another minute and then add a cup of water to the pan along with the raw banana and cook covered until all the flavours blend in.
  • Add salt and water to the desired consistency, and lastly the fish pieces and cook covered until the fish is fully cooked.
  • Serve hot with rice.
