Ingredients

  • 500 g - kingfish , cut into 2 inch fillets
  • 2- medium-sized onion, chopped
  • 1/4 - tsp Ginger
  • 1 cup - mung beans, roasted
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp - Curd
  • 1/2 tsp - Sugar
  • Salt, as required
  • Oil, as required
  • Water , as required
  • Ingredients for seasoning :
  • 1 tsp - whole Jeera
  • 2 -3 - Bay Leaves
  • 2 - whole Red Chillies
  • 1 tsp - Garam Masala powder
  • 1 tbsp - ghee/butter
  • How to Make Fish in roasted mung beans:

    1. Wash the fish and marinate with a pinch of salt and turmeric for 5 to 10 mins.
    2. Dry roast the mung beans, till golden.
    3. Pressure cook the mung beans till they are half-cooked.
    4. Make a paste of chopped onions and ginger.
    5. In a skillet, shallow fry the fish and keep it aside.
    6. In the same pan, add ginger, onion paste and 1 tsp turmeric and fry for a minute.
    7. Add curd, sugar and salt and fry all the ingredients.
    8. Add half-cooked mung beans, and sufficient water.
    9. Add fish pieces and cook till the mung and fish are cooked.
    10. In another pan, heat 1 tbsp ghee/butter, and roast jeera and the rest of the ingredients.
    11. Add the seasoning on the fish curry, and mix well.
    12. Serve hot with rice.
