Ingredients

  • 500 g - kingfish , cut into 2 inch fillets
  • 2- medium-sized onion, chopped
  • 1/4 - tsp ginger
  • 1 cup - mung beans, roasted
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp - curd
  • 1/2 tsp - sugar
  • Salt, as required
  • Oil, as required
  • Water , as required
  • Ingredients for seasoning :
  • 1 tsp - whole jeera
  • 2 -3 - bay leaves
  • 2 - whole red chillies
  • 1 tsp - garam masala powder
  • 1 tbsp - ghee/butter

How to Make Fish in roasted mung beans

  • Wash the fish and marinate with a pinch of salt and turmeric for 5 to 10 mins.
  • Dry roast the mung beans, till golden.
  • Pressure cook the mung beans till they are half-cooked.
  • Make a paste of chopped onions and ginger.
  • In a skillet, shallow fry the fish and keep it aside.
  • In the same pan, add ginger, onion paste and 1 tsp turmeric and fry for a minute.
  • Add curd, sugar and salt and fry all the ingredients.
  • Add half-cooked mung beans, and sufficient water.
  • Add fish pieces and cook till the mung and fish are cooked.
  • In another pan, heat 1 tbsp ghee/butter, and roast jeera and the rest of the ingredients.
  • Add the seasoning on the fish curry, and mix well.
  • Serve hot with rice.
