Ingredients

  • 6 cups - cooked long grain rice
  • 500 g - fish slices or cubes
  • 1 cup - onion, chopped
  • 3 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
  • 3 tbsp - Ghee or oil
  • 2 tsp - garlic, minced
  • 2 fresh green chillies, sliced
  • 2 fresh red chillies, sliced
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - black pepper corns, crushed
  • salt and pepper
  • salt to taste

How to Make Fish Kedgree

  • Rub the fish slices/cubes with salt and pepper. Steam till cooked.
  • Cool slightly and flake the fish, discarding the bones.
  • Heat the Ghee or oil in a Kadai, preferably non-stick.
  • Add garlic, fry till fragrant.
  • Add onion and fry till softened.
  • Lower the heat, add the chillies, turmeric and pepper. Fry for few seconds.
  • Add the rice and flaked fish. Add salt to taste.
  • Cover and leave on low fire, till the rice is heated through.
  • Serve hot, garnished with egg slices.
