Ingredients

  • 1 lb - cat fish (cleaned and cut into pieces)
  • 1 bunch - green Onions - 1 bunch (finely chopped)
  • 2 - Onions - (finely chopped)
  • 2 - Green chillies (finely chopped)
  • 3 tsp - Ginger Garlic paste
  • 3 sticks - Cinnamon
  • 3 - Cloves
  • 4 tsp - khus - khus
  • 1/2 cup - Coconut (fresh )
  • 1/2 cup - Coconut Milk
  • 3 tsp - chilli powder
  • 2 tsp - Turmeric
  • 6 tsp - oil
  • salt
  • 1/2 bunch - Cilantro - 1(finely chopped)
  • How to Make Fish Masala:

    1. Take a pan and add oil.
    2. When the oil is heated, add the chopped onions, green chillies and fry for a few minutes.
    3. Once the onions turn slightly golden brown, add the ginger garlic paste and fry for 1 minute.
    4. Then add the fish pieces, salt, chilli powder and turmeric.
    5. Mix well, cover the pan and allow the fish to cook.
    6. In the mean time, grind khus-khus, grated coconut, cinnamon and cloves by adding little water. Make a smooth paste and keep it aside.
    7. Now check whether the fish is cooked.
    8. When its done, add the coconut paste, 1/2 cup of coconut milk and mix very slowly. Add the cilantro and cook for another 7-10 minutes. Serve hot with rice and rasam.
