Ingredients

  • 1 kg - seer fish (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 4 to 5 tbsp - ginger, finely chopped
  • 4 to 5 tbsp - garlic, finely chopped
  • 4 - green chillies, finely chopped
  • 4 tsp - chilli powder
  • 150 ml - vinegar
  • Salt mixed with water
  • Curry leaves
  • Oil to fry

How to Make Fish Pickle

  • Mix the chilli powder with a little vinegar and keep aside.
  • Marinate the fish with 3 tsps turmeric powder and salt. Keep aside for an hour.
  • In a deep bottom pan, pour enough oil and deep fry fish cubes well. Remove.
  • In the same oil, fry the ginger, garlic and green chillies till it turns golden brown.
  • Add the chilli-vinegar paste and mix well.
  • Pour the salt water and stir.
  • Add some more vinegar to give the gravy a medium consistency. Add Curry leaves.
  • Leave the mixture to cool.
  • Add fried fish cubes. Mix well.
  • Bottle the pickle and leave to stand for a couple of days.
