Ingredients

  • 400 g - fish (preferably shark)
  • 2 - potatoes, boiled and peeled
  • 2 - onions, chopped finely
  • 2 - potatoes, chopped finely
  • 1/2 tsp -turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1 - green chilli, chopped finely
  • 2 - dry red chillies, halved
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tbsp - Urad Dal
  • 2 tbsp - grated Coconut
  • 3 tbsp - oil
  • Salt as per taste
  • A few Curry leaves
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • How to Make Fish Podimas:

    1. Clean and wash the fish. Then, cut it into small pieces (approximately 2 inch).
    2. Boil the fish pieces till cooked. Drain them.
    3. Mash the potatoes and fish pieces. Mix them well.
    4. Add oil in a pan. Add urad dal.
    5. When it turns light brown, add mustard seeds.
    6. When they splutter, add curry leaves.
    7. Add onion and fry till transparent.
    8. Add green chillies and red chillies. Saute for 2 minutes.
    9. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder.
    10. Add fish-potato mixture and salt. Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring continuously.
    11. Add grated coconut and mix well.
    12. Let it cook for another 2-3 minutes. Then transfer into a dish.
    13. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
