How to Make

  • Mix 1 cup milk powder with water to form a smooth paste.
  • Add sugar and stir till it dissolves and keep on a low flame.
  • Sieve 1 cup milk powder with 1 tsp baking powder.
  • In a bowl, break the egg and whisk with a fork lightly.
  • Add to the sieved flour mix.
  • Add the butter and mix to form a soft dough. Do not knead.
  • Shape the dough into one inch diameter balls. Do not press too hard.
  • Slightly flatten the balls and drop into boiling milk.
  • The balls will slowly enlarge and float to the top.
  • Slowly add all the balls, taking care not to disturb the others.
  • Keep on low fire untill all the balls have risen.
  • Let it simmer for 4-5 mins. Do not stir.
  • Add saffron and cardamom powder and garnish with crushed pistachios.
