  • Yam - 500 gm
  • Rice flour - 1/2 cup, approx
  • chili powder - 1 tsp
  • asafetida - 1/4 tsp
  • oil to deep fry
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Fried yam slices:

    1. Wash and peel the yam, cut it into 2 cm thick slices.
    2. Boil in water till soft but not mushy. Drain well.
    3. Toss the slices with salt, chili powder and asafetida.
    4. Place the rice flour on a wide plate and press both sides of the yam slices in flour to coat.
    5. Deep fry the slices in hot oil till golden brown.
    6. They will be crisp outside and soft inside.
    7. Serve hot.
