  • yam - 500 gm
  • rice flour - 1/2 cup, approx
  • chili powder - 1 tsp
  • asafetida - 1/4 tsp
  • oil to deep fry
  • salt to taste

How to Make Fried yam slices

  • Wash and peel the yam, cut it into 2 cm thick slices.
  • Boil in water till soft but not mushy. Drain well.
  • Toss the slices with salt, chili powder and asafetida.
  • Place the rice flour on a wide plate and press both sides of the yam slices in flour to coat.
  • Deep fry the slices in hot oil till golden brown.
  • They will be crisp outside and soft inside.
  • Serve hot.
