Ingredients

  • butter - 4 tbsp
  • flour - 1 cup + 2 tbsp
  • corn flour - 2 tbsp
  • grated orange rind - 2 tsp
  • powdered sugar - 1/3 cup
  • chopped mixed fruits - 2/3 cup
  • candied ginger - 1 tbsp, chopped
  • walnuts - ½ cup, chopped
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • mixed spice powder - ½ tsp
  • milk - ½ cup

How to Make Fruity Bars

  • Melt butter, cool slightly and beat with sugar and rind.
  • Mix flour, corn flour and baking powder and spice powder together and add fruits and nuts to it.
  • Add this to sugar mixture with milk. Mix till smooth.
  • Pour in a prepared tin and bake in oven till done.
  • Pour 5 tbsp of orange squash (or 2 tbsp of orange juice + 3 tbsp of sugar) on top while the cake is hot.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the tin and serve after cut into bars.
