  • Gawar beans/long beans - 500g (Cut and boiled)
  • Channa dal - 1 cup
  • Red Chillies - 5
  • Urad Dal - 1 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 6 tbsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves
  • Asafoetida/hing
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Gawar Beans Patoli:

    1. Soak channa dal and 5 red chillies together for 3 hours.
    2. Grind the soaked dal and chillies, adding a little salt, into a fine paste.
    3. Now place a kadai and pour 2 tbsp oil in it.
    4. Add the seasonings - urad dal, mustard seeds, 1 red chilli, hing, jeera and curry leaves to it.
    5. When the seasonings splutter, add some turmeric powder, ground paste and stir it.
    6. Add more oil and keep stirring the paste until it gets cooked, covering the lid occasionally.
    7. When the paste is cooked, add the boiled beans into it and stir them.
    8. Add some salt if necessary.
    9. Add some chilli powder to it and cover with lid for 5 minutes.
    10. Garnish with coriander at the end.
