  • 1/2 cup - Maize germ
  • 2 cups - water
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp - Ghee

How to Make Ghaat (Maize Porridge)

  • Wash maize germ well.
  • Add water and salt.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring continuously, to avoid forming lumps.
  • Cover loosely and cook on very low flame.
  • Stir frequently and add more water if required.
  • Takes about 25-30 minutes to cook well.
  • Take off fire, add ghee, stir well and serve with curd or hot milk and sugar.
