Ingredients

  • 2 cups - plain flour
  • 1 cup - castor Sugar
  • 125 g - Butter
  • 1 - small Egg
  • 1/2 tsp - bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tsp - Cinnamon
  • 1 pinch - salt
  • 2 tsp - ground Ginger
  • 1 tsp - golden syrup

How to Make Ginger nuts

  • Sift flour, sugar, soda, cinnamon, salt and ginger in a basin.
  • Rub it in butter until the mixture gets fine consistent crumbs.
  • Beat egg with golden syrup and add it to the dry ingredients.
  • Work up a firm dough with hand.
  • Roll it into small balls and place on a lightly greased oven trays about 5 cm (2 inch) apart.
  • Bake it on a moderately low oven, heat for 15 minutes.
  • Cool it on a tray.
