Ginger Snap is a popular global cookie also called 'Ginger biscuit' or 'Ginger nut' in different parts of the world. This light snack is made up of some unique ingredients - eggs, flour, ground ginger, sugar, margarine and golden syrup. These biscuits are flavourful with the authentic spice - ginger as the main ingredient. 

These yummy ginger snaps are great during tea-time and you can relish them with your favorite hot beverage.

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 350 gms. self raising flour
  • 1 rounded tsp. ground Ginger
  • 125 gms. soft light Brown sugar
  • 125 gms. demerara Sugar
  • 1tsp. bicarbonate of soda
  • 125 gms. margarine
  • 75 gms. golden syrup
  • How to Make Ginger Snaps:

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Sieve the flour, ginger and bicarbonate of soda together into a bowl. Stir in the sugars.
    2. Melt the fat very gently into the syrup and pour into the dry ingredients.
    3. Mix with the egg to form a dough. Form into balls about the size of a small walnut and place well apart on a greased baking tray.
    4. Flatten them slightly with a fork and bake near the top of a moderate oven for about 10 minutes, until golden brown.
