Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg - gol fish piece
  • 3 tbsp - ghee
  • 1 - onion (sliced)
  • Salt to taste
  • For grinding:
  • 10 - dry red chillies
  • A few sprigs - coriander leaves
  • 6 flakes - garlic
  • 1 inch - ginger
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1 - large onion
  • 10 - peppercorns
  • 1 small ball - tamarind
  • 2 - tomatoes
  • 1 inch - turmeric

How to Make Gol Fish Pepper Fry

  • Clean the fish and remove the bones keeping the fish whole.
  • Grind all the ingredients to a fine paste and apply on the fish.
  • In a pan, heat ghee and fry sliced onion.
  • Put the fish and all the masala, close the vessel with a lid and pour water on the lid.
  • Cook on slow fire for over half an hour.
  • After the water on the lid becomes hot, replace it with cold water.
  • Turn the fish and let it cook on the other side.
