Ingredients

  • 1 kg - large sized prawns
  • 4 tbsp - sesame seeds
  • For the marinade:
  • 3 tbsp - soya sauce
  • 1.5 tsp - ajinomoto (optional)
  • 1 tsp - salt
  • 1.5 tsp - black pepper
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • For the batter:
  • 1 cup - plain flour
  • 3 tbsp - corn flour
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp - white pepper powder
  • 1 white of egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp - ajinomoto (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

How to Make Golden Sesame Prawns

  • Shell prawns and de-vein them.
  • In a bowl, mix water with 1 tsp. of salt, mix prawns and leave for 3 mins.
  • Drain, rinse in cold water and pat dry.
  • Mix ingredients for the marinade in a bowl and marinate the prawns for 1 hour in the refrigeraterator.
  • Combine all the ingredients for the batter in a bowl with enough water to make a smooth batter of coating consistency.
  • Heat oil in a wok, dip the prawns in the batter.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and deep fry till golden brown.
