Ingredients

  • 1 kg - large sized Prawns
  • 4 tbsp - sesame seeds
  • For the marinade:
  • 3 tbsp - soya sauce
  • 1.5 tsp - ajinomoto (optional)
  • 1 tsp - salt
  • 1.5 tsp - black pepper
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • For the batter:
  • 1 cup - plain flour
  • 3 tbsp - Corn flour
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp - white pepper powder
  • 1 white of egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp - ajinomoto (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying
  • How to Make Golden Sesame Prawns:

    1. Shell prawns and de-vein them.
    2. In a bowl, mix water with 1 tsp. of salt, mix prawns and leave for 3 mins.
    3. Drain, rinse in cold water and pat dry.
    4. Mix ingredients for the marinade in a bowl and marinate the prawns for 1 hour in the refrigeraterator.
    5. Combine all the ingredients for the batter in a bowl with enough water to make a smooth batter of coating consistency.
    6. Heat oil in a wok, dip the prawns in the batter.
    7. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and deep fry till golden brown.
