Ingredients

  • 6 cups - gongura (Sorrel), chopped
  • 1/2 kg - potato
  • 2 cups - Palak, chopped
  • 15 green chillies or to taste
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 2 pieces cinnamon
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - Dhania powder
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp - ginger garlic paste
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 4 cloves
  • For Seasoning: 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - mustard
  • 1 tsp - black gram Dal
  • 1 red chilli, broken in 2 pieces

How to Make Gongura Potato

  • Peel and cut potato into 4 cm cubes
  • Heat 2 tbsp of oil. Add cloves and cinnamon.
  • Add onions and 2 slit green chillies. Fry till brown.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and fry till fragrant.
  • Add potatoes, chilli powder, dhania powder, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Add 1 - 1 and a half cup of water and cook till potatoes are soft.
  • Mean while cook chopped greens with remaining green chillies and salt. Cool and grind to a paste.
  • Heat oil for seasoning.
  • Add mustard, black gram Dal and broken red chillies.
  • Add the green paste and fry well.
  • When the potato is cooked, add the green paste.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice or Chapathi .
