Ingredients

  • 2 cups - Cooked Rice
  • 1 cup - Grated gooseberries
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds + Urad Dal
  • 1 tsp - Channa dal
  • 2 - Green chillies (slit)
  • 3 - Dry Red Chillies
  • Few Peanuts
  • 1 tsp - Ginger (grated)
  • 1 tsp - Ghee
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafetida powder
  • Few Curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • How to Make Gooseberry Rice-Nellikaai Sadham:

    1. Heat enough oil. Fry the mustard seeds, urad dal, channa dal, peanuts, curry leaves, dry red chillies and asafoetida powder.
    2. Immediately add the slit green chillies and grated ginger.
    3. Saute for a few seconds. Now add the grated gooseberries with turmeric powder and saute until it shrinks a bit.
    4. Immediately add the cooked rice with enough salt and toss everything gently.
    5. Finally add the ghee and turn off the stove.
    6. Serve hot with spicy potato fries..
