Ingredients

  • Cooked Rice - 2 cups
  • Grated green Mango - 1 cup
  • Chopped Onions - 1/2 cup (optional)
  • Salt - 2 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Asafetida -1 pinch
  • Mustard -1 tsp
  • Oil - 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - small bunch
  • Fried Peanuts - a handful
  • For Raitha:
  • Yogurt - 1/2 cup
  • Baby okras - 6 to 8

How to Make Grated Mango Rice

  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard, turmeric powder and asafoetida. After the mustard splutters, add chopped onions and fry till they turn golden brown.
  • Add the grated mango, chilli powder and salt.
  • Cook the mango till it becomes very soft.
  • Now, add the cooked rice. Stir well and garnish with curry leaves.
  • Sprinkle fried peanuts on top before serving.
